Midwest Ladies Conference

Topeka, Kansas

We just got back from the Ladies conference in Topeka where we were blessed to have Sister Priscilla McGruder as the guest speaker this year.  The power of the Lord was so strong at each service that even before the first song was sung you could feel the power and the annointing of the spirit in the house of the Lord.

Sister McGruder spoke about our minds, and how the devil attacks us in our minds first.  He tries to put thoughts in there so that we might dwell on them instead of keeping our minds on the Lord.  One thing that she said that was so powerful was, what do we do while we are waiting for the Lord to answer our prayers?  Do we think negative thoughts? or are we thinking positive thoughts?  Are we speaking words from negative faith? or are we having faith in our God who is able to do exceeding, abundently above all that we could ask or think?    We need to look at ourselves and ask, what are we doing while we are waiting?    Sometimes as group leaders we may see someone in our group hurting or having a need and we pray for them but God doesn't do an instant miracle for their situation.  Are we building our brothers and sisters up?  Are we encouraging them in the Lord to let them know God is on our side?  We need to speak words of faith into our situations and loose the power of God to work on our behalfs.

Sister McGruder told a story of a woman in their church who's mother had died of cancer.  This woman kept telling everyone she was going to die of cancer just like her mother.  Sister McGruder told her not to speak like that but to hold fast to the promises of God.  It would work for a little while but then she would get back to saying she was going to die from cancer.  She finally got sick one day and even before she went to talk to a doctor she was telling everyone it was cancer and that she was going to die from it.  She went to the doctor and they ran tests and found out she did have cancer.  The doctors told her with surgery and radiation and chemo that could overcome it, but she turned them down and refused the treatement while continuing to tell people she was going to die from the cancer.  She found out in the morning that day about the cancer and by that evening she had died.  We have life in the power of our tongues!!!  We can speak to our mountains and they will be removed or we can claim that whatever cancer the devil has placed in our lives is going to do us in.  The choice is ours!

What will you choose?
