Honor to whom honor is due…

Today (August 26, 2012) Bro. Willoughby, founder of Tabernacle of Joy (TJ), UPCI missionary to Singapore, and evangelist to the nations, will be honored by the TJ and FJF family in a special service in Singapore.

Since October 2006, Johanna and I have been connected with the Willoughby’s. It has been a journey of the Spirit to sit under the ministry of both Bro. and Sis. Willoughby as they walked and spoke in faith, endured hardships and produced a great harvest within nations.

My personal exposure to Bro. Willoughby allowed things of the Spirit in me to both develop and be released. My second Sunday service as an AIMer to Singapore, Bro. Willoughby walked up to me and said, “Bro Lionel, whatever you feel to do in the Spirit do it. Even if it is something new. Something that you have never done before. I want you to do it Bro. Lionel.” This complete freedom allowed me to experience new things in the Spirit.

Bro. Willoughby’s leadership is such that he trusts God to use others, and this trust in God allows men to grow into greatness in the things of God by being around Bro Willoughby. I can say this of Bro. Willoughby: he is willing to empower others and to release them to do the will of God.

Bro. Willoughby’s willingness to empower others allowed God to develop many leaders, both men and women, whom otherwise may have never had the opportunity, but who are workers in the harvest today.

I was encouraged by Sis. Willoughby to enter into their home on a weekly basis to help Bro. Willoughby with his book, “Entering the Restricted Zone.” Bro Willoughby and I labored together for many months. I wept and I laughed as I read, reread and discussed with Bro. Willoughby the stories and principles taught in his book. The time shared with Bro. Willoughby put multiple things within me that will stay for a lifetime.

When Bro. Willoughby returned from preaching in the USA, he called me and told me that he felt that God had told him to have me join him in preaching a crusade in an Asian nation. Before walking into that service, he along with others laid their hands on me and prayed. I walked into that service changed.

I want Bishop Willoughby to personally know that I appreciate his walk of faith over these past years. Johanna, Mei Li, LJ and I love and appreciate him. And on this day dedicated to honoring the ministry of one of the greatest missionaries of the UPCI, we wish to say thank you. Thank you Bro. Willoughby for being a man of faith and for your investment into us. May God bless you over the many years ahead.
